BIG Thank you to Mohammed Hossain for doing the dirty work and figuring out everything required to rebuild the RB1/2 Power Steering Pump
I am also working on a Volvo EPS Conversion as well, once I get everything ready for that, I will also include a write up on this page.
Full Rebuild Instructions
Sharing this for RB1/RB2 JDM Odyssey owners who are trying to rebuild their original power steering pump on a budget.
My vehicle is a 2005 JDM Honda Odyssey Absolute RB2
I used JP-CarParts to find the OEM parts list for my pump.
Make sure you search using your correct chassis/model code, because small differences can change the parts list. Mine is ABA-RB2.
These are the main parts/seals I found for the rebuild:
91343-PNC-003 - inner body seal
91344-PNC-003 - internal pressure/slipper seal
91348-P2A-003 - large O-ring, 51.0×2.4
91249-PNC-003 - front shaft seal
91349-PNC-J01 - S-shaped rear plate seal
91349-RAA-A01 - secondary rear plate seal
90693-P2A-003 - 40 mm circlip
6203 bearing - 17×40×12 mm
Buying everything individually from torontohondaparts.com would have been around $90 CAD.
The important cross-reference I found with this parts list is that the 2004–2005 Acura TSX / early K24 Accord power steering pump seal layout matches this RB1/RB2 Odyssey pump family closely, even though the complete pump assembly, housing, shaft, and pulley may not be the same.
Instead of buying all the OEM seals individually, I used this aftermarket rebuild kit:
Edelmann 8934 - Power Steering Pump Rebuild
It was around $20 CAD from rockauto and included almost all of the seals listed above. The kit has extra seals because it covers multiple applications, so compare each new seal carefully with the original one during teardown.
For the bearing, ensure you always get a double-sealed bearing from a reputable source. I bought a japanese double-sealed NTN bearing locally from Motion:
NTN 6203LLUC3/EM
17 mm ID × 40 mm OD × 12 mm width
https://www.motioncanada.ca/products/sku/00051848
It cost me around $10 CAD. My original bearing had one metal-shielded side and one rubber-sealed side, but I replaced it with the double-rubber-sealed NTN bearing and reused existing circlip
So, I can confirm the Edelman 8934 works on rebuilding a 2005 RB2 Absolute PS Pump.
Important Note: Do NOT use a later TSX/Accord pump rebuild kit blindly. Honda changed the pump configuration after the 2004–2005 style on some K-series applications. The early pump uses the same style of internal seals as our RB1/RB2 pump, including the S-shaped rear plate seal and the internal rubber/slipper seal arrangement. Some newer pump kits use a different gasket layout, so if you order by a newer TSX/Accord year, the seals may not match your JDM Odyssey pump.
Hopefully this helps anyone trying to rebuild the original JDM RB1/RB2 pump. Honda/Acura reused a lot of internal pump parts across K-series vehicles, but the safe way to find a matching aftermarket kit is to first compare the OEM seal part numbers and the actual seal shapes, especially around the rear cover seals.
THANK YOU MOHAMMED!!
